Death in a Budapest Butterfly by Julia Buckley

5.0

Death in a Budapest Butterfly was a fantastic read! It was filled with Hungarian folklore and I found it was easy to get swept up into the book. It has a bit of romance mixed into the mystery and was very well done. I would definitely recommend!

Plot: 4.5/5. The story follows a Hungarian family who own a tea house where a murder takes place at a high tea event. The daughter of the family, Hanna, helps to solve the murder alongside the detective. It is filled with tidbits about Hungarian culture and food.

Pacing: 5/5. The pacing for this book was great. It propelled at a speed that kept each chapter interesting and made me want to keep reading. I couldn’t put this book down. I appreciate that the murder takes place in the very beginning and we get clues along the way to figure out who did it.

Character Development: 4.75/5. The characters in this book are well done. I really liked the main character Hanna and found her an enjoyable character to follow. Her dynamic with her family is filled with warmth and I appreciated the romance that was also pulled into this book to make her character more well rounded. While the mystery was fun to solve, it was the characters that made this book extra enjoyable.
