This book made me ugly-cry in my kitchen for 15 entire minutes. Not just sad, this book was wistful and vocal; it told a new story about old loves and hatreds that held meaning for readers. Ng is a true talent, and this pandemic-adjacent work shows her ability to thrive in any genre.
