Dear World: A Syrian Girl's Story of War and Plea for Peace by Bana Alabed

4.0

‘Some people say they don’t want refugees in their country. They want them to go home, even though the people “somewhere else” might not welcome them either. But there is no place else for people to go. If you had no country or your parents or children were going to be killed, what would you do?’

Bana Alabed’s story is truly harrowing to read. A child’s account of the horrors of growing up in a warzone. You cannot say this book was an enjoyable read, but it is one which is so important. Bana has made it her mission to be the voice of the hundreds of thousands of innocent Syrians and others affected by war, and we must listen.
