Swing Time
by Zadie Smith
Somehow disappointing, because the other Zadie Smith-books I have read is so much better. The parts from the main characters childhood and youth in London, is as brilliant as I expect from Smith! But the celebrity and Africa-stuff just doesn’t convince me. I get the feeling that I am reading a theoretical explanation of why the western charity works in Africa is done wrong, rather than reading a novel where the characters gets to me. And that would be the difficulty when we are talking about political literature. I think parts of this novel is too much politics and too little literature.
