"Sometimes, the grass isn’t greener on the other side and we should stay in the field where we belong. And sometimes we just need to take a gamble and hope for the best."
4/5 stars
Read for #thebacklistreadathon
The One is the second book I have read by John Marrs, and once again he definitely didn't disappoint.
Although in the beginning I was getting confused by all of the different povs, once I got used to all of the characters, it was game on!
Marrs is an extremely fantastic writer! I honestly think the whole concept of the novel is genius, and the writing is exceptional; the book was extremely fast-paced, with so many plot twists, curiosity-inducing storylines, etc... Thus, it kept me intrigued throughout the entire 400+pages as I was interested in all of the different storylines.
"She’d read that a person’s hearing can be one of the last things to go, so she’d talk to him about nothing in particular. She didn’t want him to leave the world with a melancholic silence for a soundtrack."
I only didn't give this novel 5 stars because (view spoiler) Other than that, this book was amazing!
All in all, I would undoubtedly recommend this book to whoever enjoys reading well-written, suspenseful books!
