I wanted to read this book I have read the first two books of the Eddie Flyyn series and really enjoyed Steve Cavanagh’s style of writing. I was really intrigued in the storyline, and it did not disappoint.

The main character is Eddie Flynn, who was once a con man, an ex-lawyer who has had an interesting cases recently including fighting for his life against the Russian mafia and helping David Child, a major client of a corrupt law firm and if Eddie doesn’t do what the FBI asked, his wife will go to prison. His newest client is Leonard Howell. His daughter, Caroline has been kidnapped. Leonard doesn’t trust the cops or the FBI so he rings Eddie. Eddie knows what it’s like to nearly lose his daughter and vows to bring Caroline home safe and alive. However, as he steps back into his old life, Eddie realized that the rules of the game have changed completely and he is being playing. But who is pulling the strings? And is anyone in this case actually telling the truth?

This novel is great because it grips you from the very first chapter. The storyline is intriguing. The characters are easy to love with a lot of development and the plot twist is amazing.  My favourite chapters in any type of these books are when the main character figures everything out and has a game plan. You feel hype out for the character and want him to succeed. The one thing I would say that I didn’t like personally, a book peeve of mine, is small chapters. This book has 352 pages and 76 chapters. So even though I was hooked from the beginning, I got slightly bored during the middle and then hooked toward the end of the book. Another thing is even though this book is part of a series, I believe it can be read as a standalone, which is the only parts when I got bored by re-visiting I already knew in the first book such as his daughter, the mafia situation, the David case, and his wife.

I really enjoyed this book and even thought it lost me about halfway through, it managed to put me back in and I am intrigued for the next book. I gave this book 4 stars as I wasn’t hooked the whole way through.
