Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati
5.0
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and posted several of my favourite quotes on IG. At first, I found Elizabeth too proud & rational to care about, but the more I learned about her the more fascinating she was as a character. Nathaniel really balances her out as well. I loved learning more about the First Nations & settlers during the18th century. What might turn off some readers is Elizabeth's and Nathaniel's disinterest and disregard for Christianity and/or religions. It might be due to Elizabeth being a practical character, but church was a big part of settler life. There wasn't even really any mention of what First Nations believe. It made me wonder how much that was the author's views coming in, or the author finding it too complicated part of life. Either way, I really enjoyed the romance and the way Nathaniel & Elizabeth learn from each other.
