A List of Cages by Robin Roe

I could not put this book down. The story of Julian and Adam and their friendship was so moving. Adam is a senior, four years older than Julian. Adam and his mom had foster kids from time to time and Julian was one of the boys who used to live with them. Now they encounter each other again at school and Adam tries to renew the friendship. Julian is pretty isolated at school and struggles with learning disabilities as well as abuse at home. But he trusts Adam and slowly let him in to his life more and more.
The one problem I would say that I have with this book is the way the other teachers and principal are portrayed. Somehow Julian slips through the cracks, which probably happens more often than I'd like to think. But some of the teachers are downright mean and I had a hard time accepting that.
