4 stars for this book. This is was.. just WOW.

i’ve decided i’m going to try to keep this review short but i would just like to say this book was AMAZING and the world building was so detailed and well thought out omfg. Though the book was a little on the chaotic end at times which even though i kinda love this about it, it did make the book rather difficult to follow, *AHEM* second half of the book we’re looking at you! The info dumping did get a bit much in this book at times, but the characters were so strong that imo this is SJMs best work. So many memorable side characters as well as how Bryce’s and Hunt’s trauma felt so real istg i was *this* close to sobbing my heart raw the book is POWERFUL with a capital P. Not to mention the ending, regardless being all over the place plot wise and (minor spoiler) UNNECESSARY CHARACTER DEATH it left me on the edge of my seat it was ✨spellbounding✨

On top of this though, the book is full of complex, interesting characters. The love interest Hunt is clearly presented as a shady, morally grey protagonist who you can tell loves Bryce deeply in his own way but several of his choices.. uhh shall we say are ✨questionable✨ to say the least. I must admit i’m intrigued where SJM will go with his character in the sequel.

SJM did a spectacular job with this one - I absolutely cannot stop thinking about this.
