The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang

5.0

This book surprised me in the best way possible, even if some of those surprises, those deaths, really hurt my heart. Where to begin? The character development throughout was absolutely amazing to read, and seeing Misaki's struggles as both a woman and as a mother was the highlight of this book for me. It was an incredible, in-depth look a motherhood, grief, and loss, as well as love. I loved each of the viewpoint characters and thought the pacing of this book really held its own. Either way, it had me crying throughout. I would a hundred percent recommend this book to anyone, especially fantasy lovers. I'm definitely going to be thinking about this book for a very long time. Definitely on my 6 star book list.
