Little Demon in the Details

Mercer and Blake
PLEASE be aware that this summary/review is meant for my own purposes in order to help me recall this book and definitely has spoilers. It is in no way a reflection of what I think anyone else will like or want out of a book. It is simply a memory aid and a rough voice-to-text which is completely unedited/reviewed for errors. Read at your own discretion.
Blake is the youngest son (30) in a family of assassin/spies. Mercer is the youngest in a wealthy business family. Blake's oldest brother is engaged to Mercer's oldest sister and Blakes father asked him to keep an eye on Mercer because he is not sure what the family is up to. Mercer is a mess and has had a really messed up childhood and likes to flaunt around and wear lingerie. He is demanding, bratty, and unreliable. Blake falls for him almost immediately. It turns out there is a whole secret plot because Mercer is not really his father's son, but his nephew. The father arranged to have Mercer's parents killed when he was a baby because he thought he would inherit his sister's money but she really left it to Mercer. He has been manipulated psychologically his entire life. His older sister is kind of in on it but the younger sister is not. There's a lot of back-and-forth with figuring out what is really going on. Other main characters are Blakes brothers Brandt and Bronson and his best friend Aaron. There is also a fun minor character named Dee who is a former hook up of Blakes and becomes a friend to Mercer. In the end, Mercer's oldest sister gets implicated in the murder of some other woman along with her girlfriend. Blake and Mercer kill Mercer's father/uncle right before they get married.
This book was cute and different. It was somewhat slow for the first half but picked up in the second half and the plot moved along. Overall, I didn't love the characters and I found the plot confusing and over the top. But it was still fun.
