The Mars House by Natasha Pulley
2.0
fast-paced
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Look, I'm giving it a 2 because it's well-written, but I so disagree with every bit of the politics in this.
I hate that the solution for the senator who wanted to maim everyone who came to Mars from Earth ended up being locking them in their resistance cages. Which are cages that they clearly don't mind wearing at least sometimes but which leave bruises after being worn too long. And we're told that the Earthstronger rights communities arguing they shouldn't be locked in their cages are losing power. And the book ends with a 3-year-old being put into one and having difficulty moving around because of it, which is just upsetting. Like, we're still ending with an apartheid society, just one where people talk to each other occasionally? Which is better, I guess, but it's still pretty awful.
