Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

5.0

"And if the hourglass had been real, then in the bottom and the neck - the past and the present- the sands of Lazlo's life would be as gray as his robes, as gray as his eyes, but the top- the future - would hold a brilliant storm of colour: azure and cinnamon, blinding white and yellow gold and shell pink of svytagor blood."

This is just a sneak peak into the world that Taylor throws you into, a world full of imagery, metaphor, beauty, and heartbreak. The characters that Taylor has created in this magical world creates a whirlwind of emotions for the reader. Taylor splits your sympathies between sassy yet shy Lazlo Strange, and the dreamlike [you'll get the reference once you read it ;)] Sarai. In a world where these two characters seem pitted against each other, you are left with a conflicting desires of what will happen next. There are also those characters that you thought were the 'bad guys' until they are drowned by the hatred of the real sadistic one. Some you feel sorry for, some you wish would stop being so big headed, and then there are some which just make you laugh.

The story line itself is packed full of action from the very first page with plot points all coming together in a gasp of realisation. Simply put... you must read this story!
