Not quite what I had expected it to be, I assumed this was a horror retelling of Alice in Wonderland, however the plot had some mentions and themes of this, but for the most part was completely different from the original source materials. You can tell it has aspects of Alice in Wonderland, most notably the character names, vague likeness in descriptions and traits, but it just wasn’t quite what I had expected it to be.

but still was quite well written and the horror aspects of the book were quite intense. Some heavy themes that can be quite jarring or triggering.

I still found myself engaged in the book and needing to know more and finish the story, despite it being different than I had expected. It’s still a good story, the plot is intense and captivating, the themes are heavy and dark, and the story is chilling throughout.

I loved the subtle relationship building of Hatcher and Alice, how protective and possessive he was of her throughout the entire book and how by the end Alice was just as protective and possessive of him too.
