Oh my gosh this book was addicting! I couldn’t stop once I started! Victor and Eli had me screaming. I love Victor even though I don’t think I’m supposed to and Eli was just constantly pissing me off. I loved the antihero villian thing we had going on here. Also the jumping back and forth between the past and the present in order to tell the story was chef’s kiss! Absolutely fantastic and the execution was unbelievably well written! I also loved how the author made Eli think of himself as some angel of god sent to do the lords bidding because I think it’s a good commentary on how there are people in this world who use their faith to justify doing bad things “for the greater good” when really we are not the ones who should be judging those around us. By doing this people who themselves above god and that’s like not what your supposed to do at all. Also how Eli’s like I’m the hero and yet he has killed the most people!!! Like Victor killed on accident (except that one time) and yet he was seen as the bad guy?! Ughhh!! It was making me so mad!! Also how could Serene ever justify doing that to her own sister! I would never let that happen to my sister, I don’t care what she’s done. Anyway, I loved how fast paced this book was and the short chapters and timeline jumps made the story really engaging! I’ll definitely be picking up the next one soon!
