Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

4.0

I really liked the idea of the book, the storyline, how it was written, and even how it ended. It really shows how we need to take a step back, see the world around us, and understand that our actions impact other, sometimes it can be rather insignificant, but sometimes it can be life-altering. I also enjoyed how this 'lesson' was taught with varying outcomes of the same day, proving that the smallest actions can make the biggest difference.
What I did not like were the main characters. It was not that the characters were poorly written or underdeveloped, I just did not like the type of people they were. The person Sam grows to be is a huge improvement, but I still was not keen on her behavior. I was the 'freak' girls like this made life hell for, so I fail to see any of them, especially Lindsay, in a positive light.
I understand the story may not have had the same impact if they had been nice, but it is sad to see that the nicest characters are children or are considered freaks.
