Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah

After their father dies, sisters Meredith & Nina work together to fulfill his dying wish: for their mother to share the full Russian fairy tale with them she used to tell them when they were young. Neither of them are close to their mom, but as she shares the story they start to recognize it's not a tale - but their mom's story from before they were born in Leningrad during WWII. ⁣

It's got mystery, heartbreaking war stories, family dynamics, three different women trying to find their way - lots of stories in one that come together well. I will admit that parts of this book are too tidy. I found the ending a bit too unbelievable. But the experience of reading it was wonderful & made me feel a whole range of emotions - and because I like that in a book, it's a winner for me.⁣
