Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë

3.0

3,5/5

Agnès was a tpical ”not like other girls” kind of girl. Not that annoying, but condescending and too perfect, bigot and naive. It is strange reading this in 2021, is marriage supposed to be the end of a story for women?
I like the underlying criticism of education. Bad unions give bad parents and bad children's education, based on resent, boredom and ignorance. Bad educated children also result in bad adults, who make bad marriages, etc.
I wonder what Agnès/Anne would think of our modern world...
