A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge

Fantastic concepts, the world building is interesting and unique. So well thought out in certain areas, 30 years later it has some great commentary that absolutely applies today.

Unfortunately, I found the Prologue to be the most interesting part of the novel. Perfect example of someone with fantastic ideas, knowledge and concepts but a lack of interesting prose. I found the characters particularly bland and had a hard time being interested in them.
