The Predictably Irrational CD: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions by Dan Ariely

3.5 stars.

An interesting read on human behavior. There were a lot of ‘hmmm’ and ‘yeah’ moments. The writing is great and easy to follow; also, the arguments are quite convincing. However, after about the halfway through, the discussions started to feel very repetitive.
Few things I learnt:
We live our lives with social norms and economic norms in parallel; once they are mixed, it’s hard to redefine.
Given chances, it’s so easy for humans to cheat, especially if the impact of the cheating ranks low in the moral benchmark.
We not only tend to compare things with one another but also tend to focus on comparing things that are easily comparable – and avoid comparing things that cannot be compared easily.
