How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy
by Jenny Odell
often incredible, occasionally insufferable. i struggled with the way the book centered and valorized individual willpower, a deeply puritan/capitalist value. odell also failed to interact with neurodiverse perspectives on the meaning and nature of attention, which left her analysis feeling deeply centered on neurotypical experiences. that said, i continue to be deeply influenced by odell’s perspectives and syntheses on ecology and belonging to place.
