When Haru Was Here
by Dustin Thao
OMG this book.. I read it in a day because i just couldn’t put it down. It was a quick read like I would read and then look down at my kindle and be another 20% into the book. This book was sooooooo gooood. TW: death and grief and destructive behavior. This book hurt me and hurt me a lot. I had a friend recommend it…. I’m never forgiving them for the heartbreak they put me through by loaning me their copy…. Dustin, count your days. But really, I loved this book. I spent the book trying to figure out what was real, what wasn’t, and what was actually happening. Eric was such a sweetheart and went through so many crazy things in a short span. It was so hard to see him go down the path of self destructive behavior and pull away from his loved ones. Alexa play I Hate it Here by Taylor Swift because he really was going to secret gardens in his mind. With the twists and turns, this book is hard to put down and keeps sucking you back in chapter after chapter. While I would recommend this book, you probably don’t want to read this if you recently lost a loved one- it will tear you apart.
