The Phoenix King

medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
This book is so hard to review for me, because most things are really good, but for some reason I just didn't connect with the characters.
The worldbuilding is so interesting and promising, the plot is well thought through and engaging, and the characters seem well rounded, but for some reason I never could read more than a few chapters before getting distracted. Maybe the writing style just isn't my cup of tea.
Anyway, this is actually quite a good book but it took me ages to finish, so I don't think I'll continue the series.
Quotes:
"Because even though the desert does not claim me as its own, she does. I took an oath."
"Now, take what is yours, Daughter of Fire, and rise as Elena Aadya Ravence, the New Phoenix King."
