The Moon's Daughter was fantastic, but this book took everything to the next level and it was incredible. I loved the use of flashbacks once again from Leena, showing us another story that weaves in so so well. The world building expands from book 1 in the perfect way, adding more detail to the world that we love.
I really enjoyed Layna and Zarian's development in this book - both individually and as a couple. Zarian is as dreamy (and broody) as ever and Layna is her fierce but vulnerable self - but they also show so much growth throughout the book. The amount of emotions their story made me feel was unbelievable - it takes a fair amount for me to cry, but parts of this book had me in tears.
I adored Soraya's story too, and it was great to see more of her in this book as well as being introduced or reintroduced to some fantastic side characters.
Once again, Leena's ability to write a truly skin-crawling villain is shown in this book and I was so angry during THAT scene (if you know you know). The plot was action filled and whilst I would love to say more, I'll hold back due to spoilers - but trust me when I say you NEED to read this book.
Thank you so much to Leena for giving me the opportunity to read this early-access ARC, and for responding to my ridiculous amount of slightly unhinged DMs I sent during the last 30% of this book.
