The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon
3.0

More of a 3.5.

This is about Samiah and Daniel. The book starts with Samiah finding out she's being cheated on through twitter and being a badass by confronting him at the restaurant. His date and another girl who found out end up forming a fast friendship. I liked the friendship between Samiah, Taylor, and London, and I'm looking forward to seeing their books as it's part of a series.

Daniel is part of an undercover operation at Samiah's computer development program company, and he starts pursuing a relationship with her when he knows he shouldn't. Samiah made a pact not to date, but she's drawn to Daniel regardless.

I couldn't get over the Daniel's excuses for pursuing a relationship was he just couldn't help it. I needed the tension and angst drawn out a little bit more. But him just ignoring his conscience was anticlimactic. Also, I didn't love the narrator for this.

I did love the conversations about the book about women of color in STEM and I thought that was a great conversation to have. And I did like the relationship between Samiah and Daniel overall.
