How can one begin to explain the absolute heartbreak that is knowing I will never again get to experience reading this book for the first time?
I was a fan of the audiobook "The Night Circus" (how could you not be?) and heard about Morgenstern's second novel through the Booktok channels. I picked it up at the library and was interested in the premise. I didn't realize that this would be the book to ruin all other books for me and I wish that I had prepared more. I finished this book in just over a day and am now sitting here blankly, wondering how I will ever love again.
The world building was nothing like I have ever seen before, from the subplots to the embedded narrative, this book whisks you away on an enchanting plotline to seas unknown and has you hooked until the very end. I am absolutely hungover from this pour of a novel and I do not know if I will ever recover.
Five shining stars above a honey sea.
