The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks

4.0

This book is about Sophia Danko, a senior in college, that goes to a bull riding competition. There she meets Luke, a bull rider who has been badly injured and if he keeps riding then he could die. They start hanging out more and date but their life plans aren’t working together. On one of their dates, they come across an old man in a car crash. It seems that he has no other family so they decide to stay at the hospital with him. They read him letters that the old man would write to his deceased wife and learn their love story. Life is still in the way of their relationship but somehow they ended getting the ending that they wanted.
I would rate this book 4/5. I like how it is a different type of love story. Compared to a lot of other men in romance books, this lead male character has a stronger or manlier demeanor which is something different. I love how one couple learns about an older couple's story to inspire their relationship.
"It's strange, I think, the way our lives turn out. Moments of circumstance, when later combined with conscious decisions and actions and a boatload of hope, can eventually forge a future that seems predestined"
This quote is true. We don't know what the outcome is gonna be so we try our best to make it the way we want. In the end, we can kind of tell what the outcome is because depending on all the work and effort we put into it. If you just hope and not actually work and try for it, the chances of getting it is so low. Like in the book, Sofia and Luke knew that their relationship was special and was meant to be so they put a lot of work and sacrifices to be able to stay together.
