The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
5.0
This is why Young Adult fiction is great. Death, humor, life, love, joy and wonder in a plain old good story. I was never more existential than I when I was a teenager, and John Green nails it.
It's laugh-out-loud funny at times, and some of those times are also the darkest, saddest moments. Because that's how life is. These completely fictional folks come to life as examples of how to live, how to die, and most importantly: how to find meaning in the world.
Side note: as a philosophy librarian, the recently departed Phillipa Foot gets a shout out, as does good old Zeno. Nice work, Mr.Green.
