Truly beautiful! Louise is a young immigrant mother who is forced to move from one precarious lodging to the next, until she ends up in a women's shelter. Her education and persistence makes no difference in this world, and she has to battle the infinite bureaucracy that prevents her from getting the residence permit she should have received long ago and from moving into a longterm home. Through it all, her little daughter Bliss is the light of her life and helps her push through. The narration is unique and beautifully done: We never hear Louise speak directly, only the social workers and other homeless women. She only speaks to us directly through her letters to her grandmother, and nevertheless tells her story in her unique voice on every page.
