I Thought I Knew You by Penny Hancock

5.0

This was amazing, not my usual read, but I loved it. It had me gripped throughout thinking about whether I believed Saul raped Saffie and what other secrets the characters may be hiding.

I could understand both Jules’ and Holly’s perspectives and of course you would believe your own child regardless, but sometimes I wanted to shake them with the comments or the attitudes towards each other. There was also so much more woven into this story than just the rape allegation, and it was fascinating learning more about the relationships between friends and families and how they were affected through the whole ordeal.

I will definitely be checking out other works by Penny Hancock, the way she writes is so moving and just generally realistic – I felt what the characters were feeling and I was going on the journey with them. I would recommend this to anyone.
