Dead of Winter: Good Good Dog by Kyle Starks

4.0

Man, that dog really DOES hate zombies.

This is pretty great. Another Kyle Starks book that goes along the lines of "What if I could write my version of a movie trope?" In this case, the Lassie/Air Bud doggo who is probably more human than dog, except he's awesome, so he's probably more dog than human.

When you read something like this, you're always face with one problem: Are you thinking about anything other than "Is this fucking dog going to die in horrific fashion?" I mean, there's really no such thing as a dog dying in non-horrific fashion. I guess the thing where the vet comes and does the injection thing at home isn't horrific, it just sucks.

But if you wanted to make a zombie movie with really high tension, throw in a beautiful, lovable golden retriever, and put him in danger over and over.

There's a great laugh in this book when the doggo pulls off a move, no spoilers, that was just hilarious.

Good job, Kyle Starks. Good Good Job.
