Yeah, no. Reading Jane Eyre through a critical lense, or/and reading it as a mystery rather than a romance story is fun. Doing the same for Pamela does not work. You're just going from "oh what the absolute creepy as fuck shit is happening" to "ah. So we're supposed to forget all of that now huh".
I also really dislike epistolary novels but that's more on me.
