I liked this book - I would have given 3.5 stars if I could have, because while I enjoyed it and am really looking forward to the second book, there were a few things that weren't ideal for me.

Pros:
- Vera as a FL is fairly well rounded, I think she's been set up nicely for huge personal growth in the second book.
- Good villains, especially the slightly unsuspected villain at the end. (They were always leaning that way but the end wasn't exactly what I thought would happen!)
- Good sexual tension / spice.
- Some fun side characters.
- Good fight scenes.

Cons:
- I felt the book felt rushed, perhaps because it's quite short for a fantasy series novel. Particularly towards the ending - first half was set up and flowed quite nicely.
- Could have had more time for things to grow between ML and FL rather than leaning heavily on the forced proximity/from the past/mates thing. Not mad at it, just felt like they could have spent more time bonding.

Overall - would recommend as a nice light fantasy romance, really hoping the second book is longer and more fleshed out!!
