Class: A Memoir of Motherhood, Hunger, and Higher Education
by Stephanie Land
medium-paced
Picked up this book for book club and listened to the audiobook on a long drive. Stephanie Land is a talented non-fiction author and she is good at bringing events to life. I didn’t identify with her or her choices, which made this a very difficult book to get through. I felt like the entire narrative was Land playing the victim of circumstance, even though she chose much of the circumstances. I’m proud of her for sharing the story and I’m happy that she found her voice as a writer, her actual childhood dream.
Graphic: Emotional abuse, Toxic relationship, Abortion, Pregnancy, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Rape, Sexual assault
