So many interesting parallels between the different stories- it's like as a whole the book, the way the characters change and grow and interweave throughout each other's lives and the often stark contrasts and parallels between the way different characters deal with their (different/similar) situations, tells an entirely different story when viewed overall. There are repeated motifs of death (especially baby death) which act to both foreshadow and contrast to later events. It really is a masterpiece!
