Lord John and the Private Matter
by Diana Gabaldon
This was dark. The plot and actions of *several* of the characters. I will not revisit this book and will pause any further reading of this series.
I liked every scene with Lord John's mother. And her saying of the engaged female cousin "She's 16. She is most in love with her wedding dress," when the suitability of the groom came into question and how the cousin might take the news.
And then when the cousin quickly finds a better option, Lord John's approval is spoken with "well, she already has a dress."
The audiobook narrator is grand.
