New Moon
by Stephenie Meyer
I think I enjoyed this slightly more than the first because the characters had more arcs rather than insta-love. Bella's grief spiral is INTENSE - Jacob is the only light in her life, literally. I didn't expect it to be that stark. He is also very respectful even though he's going through his own struggles, and he seems like the most reasonable character in the series so far, at least up to this point. I was surprised at the Italy trip and wanted way more sensory details. Bella's travel always is out of necessity, and I get that, but I still want to feel like she's really in a setting, not a cardboard backdrop for drama.
