I am genuinely surprised by how much I loved this. I usually enjoy romance, but rarely love it. It's funny, heartbreaking, joyful, and sexy all at the same time. I love the relationship between mothers and daughters, and how they are explored. I love how destructive (for different reasons) both Eva and Shane were as teens. I love how they try to work through the past trauma to something healthy. Shane needing to mentor teens broke me a little. I love how rooted in blackness it is. This was just wonderful and I'm so glad I picked it up.
