Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas

3.0

My rating may be unfairly low, as I was expecting a very different novel than what this actually turned out to be. That's on me. I was expecting more historical supernatural horror, when the reality of the book is far more historical romance with a backdrop of some supernatural horror. I didn't find the main characters compelling enough to be invested in their relationship, and romance is not typically one of my preferred genres.

I do have some general quibbles about some minor things, but I think ultimately it would be enjoyable to someone who goes in expecting the main plot to center on the romance. I didn't, and that's not what I was looking for from it, so I was disappointed. The 3 stars by no means indicates I think it's a bad book, because I don't--I just don't think it's for me.
