Love the Sinner by Mo Moshaty
5.0
Review
This is the first collection I have read by Mo Moshaty but it will not be my last. I love horror in all of it’s forms and Brigid’s Gate Press as published some of my recent favourites so I knew I was in good hands.
Love the Sinner is a unique collection as each story focuses on one of the perceived sins and creates gripping stories around each. I adored how each story varied in length, style and of course subject matter. It is hard to actually pick a favourite since I loved them all but while it was sad and horrifying I liked A Battle Between Boys. It was the one that stuck with me the most. While all were memorable and enjoyable that one, being the first, really gripped me and honestly I have to say as a collection I think that’s exactly what the first story should do.
The writing is amazing for each story and while the tone and subjects change the writing remains both creepy but also human at the same time. The characters in each story were well developed and you ended up invested in them even though their stories were short. Some of the topics are a little dark, as you would expect with a horror collection and one dealing with sins, but they are all handled beautifully.
If you are looking for a collection of stories that can easily be read on a commute or over lunch a break or better yet devoured at night this is for you. I will most certainly be getting a physical copy in the near future too.
