What Mother Won't Tell Me by Ivar Leon Menger

3.0

I read this book right after I read "The Marsh King's Daughter" by Karen Dionne. I didn't mean to; I just picked it up and soon figured out they're very similar in a lot of ways.

This book is written by a German author and translated into English. My full review is on my website, www.blairsbookbenders.com

For the most part, the book was great. It made my heart race, I had anxiety, and I was always worried for the main character. Obviously, all the great things you want in a thriller! My only issue was that the author got bored writing it, so he shoved the last fourth of the book together as fast as possible. The book was very fast-paced, yet it was going nicely, then the book ends with an unsatisfying resolution that was highly disappointing. The first half is fantastic and the second half kind of sucks.

It's a short, quick read, only 230ish pages. I'm not going to say don't read it, but also, don't be surprised when you're disappointed in the second half. This book could've easily used another 75 pages or so.
