The thing is that I approached this with nothing but respect and was so sweet and willing but the badly written bitch of a story was grasping onto clunky over explaining and unappealing turns of phrase like someone was trying to snatch the obviousness out of their hands. writer, relax.
But who could have though that the secret will they won't they employee/boss little sister of best friend known since they were both children next door neighbours Formula One Lite driver unrealistic circumstances that force them to work together romance story wasn't going to be well written when it was likely conceived in a very short amount of time to fill the sports (car) romance genre niche.
The resolution of one of the long running (and annoying and trope-y) plot contrivances was resolved in a way that did surprise me, though that doesn't mean it was good; and I really enjoyed having Leads of Colour, especially with the many references and considered respect given to Dev's background as I felt it added texture to the story in a natural and compelling way, and isn't something I have seen a lot of in the genre. That being said, Willow didn't really get the same courtesy and was as half baked as her half baked baking "hobby." Wouldn't recommend, the stakes aren't high enough and the prose is a car crash.
