Perhaps my favorite book of the past several years.

Advice to future readers: if you find the way Saunders has you read the first short story tedious (as I initially did), press on anyway. I considered suggesting you skip the first story and revisit it after you have a chance to appreciate some of the other stories, but I've reconsidered. There's value in "knowing" Chekhov's Marya before moving on to the other works.
