Beautifully Unexpected by Lily Morton

3.0

Lily Morton is usually one of my favourite writers, but her latest books miss the mark for me. It happened with Playground Games, with Merry Measure and again with this one. Objectively there's nothing wrong with them, but they miss the usual spark. I never got attached to Mags and Laurie, so my connection to the book stayed superficial. I was afraid of the dog issue because of the reviews, but somehow that didn't bother me. I thought Endof was actually good for Mags. Fingers crossed the next one will gel more with me.
