The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory
5.0

Loved, loved, loved reading it. It's completely NOT a historical account, although it utilized bits of history througout*, but it's entertaining. And re-ignited my curiosity, so that's a good thing (sorry - channeling Martha Stewart there).
It also led directly to my purchasing The Boleyn Inheritance, which was a far different, yet also quite enjoyable, read.

Some semi-spoilers, if your history is lacking or forgotten:
* for instance, Mary Boleyn's marriage "beneath" her social standing. I knew that Mary was involved with Henry before Anne, but that was it. Had no knowledge of her beyond a blondeish portrait.
I also spent time web-surfing and found several theories and beyond (family-websites) that claim Mary's 2 children were indeed both Henry's, and that Eliz. I held both in far greater regard than would have been typical of cousins in that era. I would need to read further before believing one way or the other, but it's an interesting concept. Particularly as one of their family tree's led right down to the Queen Mum's mother, making Eliz. II potentially a direct descendant of Henry (!).
