Grave Witch by Kalayna Price

adventurous mysterious fast-paced

3.5

I did really like the characters,
(though I hate a love triangle)
but the world building was confusing and felt inconsistent at times. The magic system and use of words like grave magic, glyphs, charms, grey magic, wyrd witch, and fae felt all over the place and too much was happening at once.

The overarching murder mystery plot was interesting, but around the last quarter of the book I found there were too many bodies and victims for me to keep track of. It made the final reveal fall a little flat for me.

I am interested in how the series continues from here and I do like the characters a lot, but other reviews have convinced me the rest of the series is just as lacking as book one so I’m not sure if I’ll pick up the second book.
