The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes
3.0
I'm not generally a big fan of novels with more than one strand to them, and I'm not sure this novel really convinced me massively. One story tends to be stronger than the other, and I certainly enjoyed the story of Edouard and Sophie more compelling than the modern day Liv and Paul.
It was, however, massively spoiled for me by the sloppy, incorrect German.
Yes, I understand that it was German from the point of view of a Frenchwoman, but the sentence structure was so cringingly English it felt like it had been lifted straight out of Google translate.
I'm afraid that initial annoyance probably coloured the rest of my opinion of it, which was entertaining enough, but ultimately too predictable for me.
