I flew through this book so fast, I’m not sure I stopped to eat. It was so good. I devoured everything about Isaac and Tovah. Isaac had me salivating from the beginning with his dark wavy hair and sweet dimple and then the switch flipped so fast I don’t even know what happened. I LOVE a bad boy. A hockey bad boy? Even better. One from a mafia family who is looking for Tovah and her mother for killing one of their men? Say less! Now, in real life I would run in the other direction and not look back, but it is so delicious on the page. Their chemistry was off the charts proving once again how thin the line between hate and love really is. Jo Brenner has a gift for bringing her characters to life and making them so dang delicious even in the moments we are hating them. The character arcs and the growth is perfection. I know at the end of the book Jo says she considered not writing a book with these themes, but I’m so glad she did. Some of us need these characters and these stories, these redemption arcs. There is so much more there than a fast paced steamy romance and I for one appreciate that she took the time to bring it to us, her readers.
“Once, Bassett, I told myself that no one was allowed to hurt you but me. But now, no one is allowed to hurt you, including me.”
Thank you Jo Brenner for an e-arc. All opinions are my own and freely given.
