Furyborn by Claire Legrand

This book was the BIGGEST SURPRISE OF 2021 so far. I truly loved it so much and I even bought the next ones to binge-read them because I just can't wait for some more dark twisted fantasy by Claire Legrand!

The premise wasn't that much appealing to me at first and I had an issue with following two different POVs that span millenia from each other. However, Rielle truly grew on me, and after some time I only cared about her own POV and not Eliana's. The thing with Rielle was that she wanted to be as much powerful as possible and that led her to grey options and a constant flirting with the darkest, most intriguing and sexy romance interest I've encountered this year (apart from Rhysand, my loves.)

I was hooked on this book and even if Eliana was a bit tiring to follow around, she always seemed to be so self-righteous that it threw me off, her POV got interesting towards the end of the book.

I can't recommend this YA/NA fantasy enough. There's amazing worldbuilding with an original flair, and excellent use of tropes and flips of the premise. Since YA/NA is considered a cliched genre by many, know this: all authors use tropes that are well-used but it's in the way they will flip them that magic occurs.

The writing is stellar, the tension is breathtaking and the slow-burn romance is... epic! The Audible narration was also one of a kind--I'll be following Fiona Hardingham around for a lot of time.

Can't wait to read Kingsbane!
