Okay - this book!!

I was so worried when I started it because I found myself annoyed with Celaena. No not annoyed, angry and bordering on hating her. The way she gave up. The self-loathing and moping. I get grief, I truly do. My husband died unexpectedly, I’ve lost many family members before that and since. I know that grief weighs you down but I expected so much more of her.

I guess that’s the point though. Because without those moments in the beginning I wouldn’t have found myself as devoted to her as any of her court members are. The power of facing your deepest fears and acknowledging the depths of pain that come from grief is unimaginable unless you’ve been there. To watch her rise like a phoenix, this heir of fire, made me so damn emotional.

And as always SJM came in like a wrecking ball with those last 100-150 pages. The struggle I felt for the first couple books was worth it to reach this level of emotional reading. I cannot wait to be torn apart by the rest of the series.
